INDIA Bloc To Huddle In Delhi At 6 PM Today, Strategy On Next Move To Be Discussed

The Lok Sabha results have sprang a surprise. With the ruling BJP's tally settling below the majority mark in the Lok Sabha, it has to now rely on its allies for government formation.

On the other hand, the Opposition's INDIA bloc defied the exit polls and stole BJP's thunder by winning 232 seats. Questions were raised to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi yesterday at a presser on whether his party would stake claim to form the government, or sit in the Opposition. He didn't give a clear reply, but responded with a politically correct statement.

Gandhi made it clear that there will be no unilateral decision on this and that "there's a very fine line". He added, "Whatever INDIA bloc decides, we'll act on it. We are part of a coalition"

As the PM Modi-led NDA is holding a meeting today at Delhi, the INDIA bloc too has started its maneuvers. The Opposition's united front is all set meet today at 6pm in the Capital and will decide whether they'll be approaching former allies - JD(U) and TDP - to attempt government formation at the Centre. Perhaps, yesterday's results have given the INDIA bloc some confidence that it can also form the government if it breaks away a few of NDA's allies. As per reports, INDIA alliance had apparently sent feelers to both JD(U) and TDP.

Earlier today, Tamil Nadu CM and DMK chief MK Stalin and NCP leader Supriya Sule were seen at the airports to board their respective flights to the national capital for the INDIA bloc meet.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, a prominent face of the INDIA bloc, has decided to skip the meet today, as reported by News18. Instead, party leaders Sanjay Raut and Arvind Sawant will be attending the meet.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge took to X to confirm the details of the meet today. Kharge said, "The INDIA Janbandhan leaders will be meeting today at 6 PM at 10, Rajaji Marg to discuss the election results and strategy thereafter."
