INDIA Alliance To Unveil Logo, Discuss 2024 Polls At Mumbai Meet

The leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc are gearing up for a two-day conference in Mumbai, where they are expected to introduce a coordination committee and reveal the alliance logo.

Taking place on August 31 and September 1, the conference will also involve the unveiling of multiple panels that will be responsible for crafting a shared minimum program for the alliance. Additionally, joint strategies for nationwide protests and seat sharing arrangements will be discussed.

"The Mumbai meeting will chart a clear path towards offering a progressive alternative to the current administration's regressive policies," stated Manoj Jha of RJD to news agency PTI.

The INDIA bloc is also projected to announce a secretariat in the national capital Delhi to facilitate seamless communication among its constituents. Moreover, deliberations will include the matter of appointing a coordinator or chairperson to lead the alliance.

Preparations for the conference have been underway by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra for the past few days.

There is speculation that additional regional parties might join the 26-party opposition alliance at the Mumbai conclave, which marks the third in a series of meetings following those held in Patna and Bengaluru, as per PTI reports.

With 27 opposition parties and 62 delegates set to participate, as indicated by the list obtained by India Today, the event is poised to be substantial.

Meanwhile, ahead of the conference, Congress leader Milind Deora noted that seat sharing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections among alliance partners is largely settled in most states, with only a few requiring more time.

Deora, deeply involved in organizing the event, also commended the "evolving chemistry" among INDIA bloc partners, particularly exemplified in Maharashtra.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi, comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Congress, has formed multiple committees to strategize various aspects of the opposition bloc's meeting.

This marks the first meeting of the opposition INDIA alliance in a state where none of the member parties hold power, underscoring the emphasis on unity in the discussions.
