This Independence Day, Google didn't just change its logo-it transformed it into a gallery of India's spirit, culture, and achievements. The August 15 doodle is a tapestry of six hand-crafted tiles, each one telling its own story, yet together forming a portrait of a nation that blends ancient artistry with modern triumphs.

The first tile, an elegant 'G,' blooms in Jaipur blue pottery-cool blues and delicate floral swirls straight from Rajasthan's craft traditions. Next to it, a floral-framed spaceship soars from the second tile, a nod to India's giant leaps in space exploration. The third tile is all about cricket fever-traditional motifs framing a bold red ball flanked by bats, as if mid-swing.

The fourth tile keeps the heritage thread alive with another distinctive Indian design, leading to the fifth-where a chess piece stands proud, celebrating India's grandmasters. The final tile rolls the credits with a cinema reel, cleverly curling into the letters 'L' and 'E,' a tribute to India's storytelling power on the global stage.

Artists Makarand Narkar and Sonal Vasave of Boomranng Studio have stitched these pieces together like a cultural quilt-Rajasthan's pottery, Bengal's terracotta relief, and echoes from crafts across India-infused with symbols of scientific glory, sporting victories, and cinematic magic.
