In Pictures, The New Parliament Building Inaugurated

Prime Minister Narendra on May 28 inaugurated the new Parliament building. It was a mega-event, in which many took part.

Let us take a look at the inauguration of the new Parliament building in pictures.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi entered the new Parliament building at 7.30 am.

The priests from Karnataka performed a Ganapathi Homa.

Amidst Vedic chants by the priests the PM performed Ganapathi Homa to invoke the Gods to bless the inauguration of the new building.

The ceremony began with a traditional puja.

Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla too was present at the event.

PM Modi sought blessings from the high priests of various Adheenams.

Prior to this, he prostrated before the Sengol.

The Sengol was handed over to the PM by the Adheenams.

The PM then installed the Sengol in the Lok Sabha next to the seat of the Speaker.

PM Modi then unveiled the plaque to mark the inauguration of the New Parliament building along with Speaker Om Birla.

The Sengol was carried midst the tunes of 'Nadaswaram.'

During the event 'Ssarv-Dharma prayers were held.

Priests from different religions recited the traditional verses.

The PM also facilitated a group of construction workers who were involved in the construction of the new Parliament building.

The new building is part of the revamped Central Vista Project.

The construction of the new building began in 2019.

The new Parliament building was built at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore.

The new Parliament has three storeys.

The built-area of the new building is 64,500 sqm.

There are 92 rooms in the new Parliament building for the council of ministers.
