New Delhi, Jan 23: As the nation is gearing up to celebrate its 65th Republic Day on 26th January, we bring to you some exclusive pictures of the rehearsals in different states of India.

In the national capital Delhi, the Republic Day parade starts from the Vijay Chowk and ends at the Red Fort.

This year, the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe along with his wife Mrs Akei Abe will be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day Parade, the first ever Japanese dignitary to grace the occasion.

Delhiites will miss the Delhi tableau owing to late submission of its proposal.

"They (Delhi) were late this year... the proposal came well past the final date of acceptance so it was rejected," said an official of the defence ministry which organises the parade.

Last year's Delhi tableau portrayed the city's diverse culture owing to its inhabitants coming from different backgrounds and as the country's hub for performing and fine arts.
