Ahemedabad/Srinagar, June 26: Every year, whenever monsoon season approaches, some states of India get badly affected by the incessant rains, that leads to flooding and landslides.

Heavy rainfall in states like Gujarat, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir have disrupted normal lives and has lead to devastation.

At least 81 people have died in Gujarat over the past four days in the heavy rainfall. The Gujarat government has announced Rs 4 lakh each as compensation to families of the deceased.

In flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir, the water level in Jhelum crossed the danger mark at Sangam in south Kashmir on Thursday, as most parts of the valley were lashed by incessant rains since Wednesday. A flood alert was sounded in Anantnag and Pulwama districts.

On Thursday, June 25, heavy rains washed away a vital bridge over Mandakini river between Sonprayag and Gaurikund on way to Kedarnath in Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, in Assam, the flood situation has improved considerably with around 3,500 people affected due to heavy rains in ten villages.
