In Photos: World's Largest Office, Surat Diamond Bourse Inaugurated Today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the newly-built Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) building, part of the Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City.
The SDB building, the world's largest office complex with over 67 lakh square feet of floor area, is located at Khajod village near Surat city.

Ahead of the inauguration, several diamond traders, including those based in Mumbai earlier, have already taken possession of their offices allotted by the management after the auction, SDB's media convener Dinesh Navadiya said in the statement.

The Surat Diamond Bourse will be the world's largest and modern centre for international diamond and jewellery business, the statement said.

It will be a global centre for trading of both rough and polished diamonds as well as jewellery.
It will comprise a state-of-the-art 'Customs Clearance House' for import and export, jewellery mall for retail jewellery business and facility of international banking and safe vaults.

The Prime Minister shared information about the inauguration on his X account on Saturday. He wrote, "In Surat tomorrow, the Surat Diamond Bourse will be inaugurated. This will be a major boost to the diamonds industry. The 'Customs Clearance House', Jewellery Mall and facility of International Banking and Safe Vaults will be significant parts of the Bourse."

Ahead of the inauguration of the newly upgraded terminal building of the Surat airport, Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman of the Airport Authority of India, told ANI: "The city will have lots of benefits...The capacity of the Surat airport will be increased by three times...The Union Cabinet has approved it as an International Airport...This will further escalate the development process of the city..."
