In new Tripura cabinet, 4 crorepatis and 2 with pending criminal cases
The BJP-IPFT combine returned to power in Tripura for a second consecutive term in the recently held elections. The alliance bagged 33 of the 60 seats.
The Tripura Cabinet has two ministers with pending criminal cases and 4 crorepatis, according to a report.
The report prepared by the Tripura Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms also says that one minister has declared serious criminal charges against himself.

The report was prepared on the basis of the self-sworn affidavits of the nine ministers, including the Chief Minister who were sworn in recently after the just concluded elections.
In the recently concluded elections, the BJP-IPFT alliance won 33 seats in the 60-member assembly. The BJP alliance secured its return to power in the northeastern state, twice in a row.
According to data by the Election Commission of India, the BJP bagged 30 seats while the IPFT ended up with one.
Criminal Background:
- The report says that 2 or 22 per cent of the ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves.
- Out of the 2 ministers, one has declared a serious criminal case against himself the report further adds.
Financial Background:
- Out of the 9 ministers analysed based on their self-sworn affidavits, 4 are crorepatis the report says.
- The average assets of the ministers has been analysed at Rs 3.37 crore. The minister with the highest assets is Manik Saha, who won the elections from the Town Bardowali constituency. He has declared assets to the tune of Rs 13.90 crore.
- At Rs 2.06 lakh, Sukla Charan Noatia is the minister with the lowest declared assets.He won the elections from the Jolaibari (ST) constituency.
- Eight ministers have declared liabilities, the report says.
- The minister with the highest liabilities is Tinku Roy from the Chandipur constituent. He has declared liabilities of Rs 50.87 lakh.
Other details:
- Five ministers have declared their age to be between 25 and 50 years, while four have declared their age between 51 and years.
- The report says that out of the nine ministers, only one is a woman.
