In Just 4 Days, 14 Lakh Tirupati Laddus Sold Amid ‘Beef Tallow’ Debacle

The debate over the alleged use of animal fat in the famous Tirupati laddus has sparked a major political controversy in Andhra Pradesh. Despite this turmoil, the Sri Venkateshwara Temple continues to thrive, attracting over 60,000 pilgrims daily, as reported by NDTV.

Temple officials revealed that in just four days, sales of Tirupati laddus surpassed 1.4 million. The sales figures include 359,000 laddus on September 19, 317,000 on September 20, 367,000 on September 21, and 360,000 on September 22, reflecting the temple's usual daily average of around 350,000 laddus.

14 Lakh Tirupati Laddus Sold

Daily production exceeds 300,000 laddus, with many devotees purchasing them in bulk as gifts for friends and family. Each laddu is crafted from a mix of Bengal gram, cow ghee, sugar, cashews, raisins, and almonds, with approximately 15,000 kg of cow ghee used each day in their creation.

The controversy ignited after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused the previous YSRCP administration, led by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, of mixing animal fat into the ghee used for the laddus. In response to these serious allegations, the Andhra Pradesh government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the matter.
