In Bihar, Congress stares at a big split
The JD(U)-BJP have claimed that they have the support of 133 MLAs which is ahead of the magic number of 122.
Is the Congress heading for a grand split in Bihar. The rumours mills are doing the rounds that many in the Congress are likely to cross vote in favour of the JD(U)-BJP combine which faces a floor test in the Bihar legislative assembly.
Many within the Congress are unhappy that the high command was unable to save the alliance. Adding to the problem was Rahul Gandhi not being available to Congress Bihar unit chief Ashok Chaudhary.
Although Chaudhary maintained the entire flock is together, the high command is not convinced. Several calls have been made over the past 24 hours to the state unit in Bihar to find out if attempts were being made to poach its MLAs.

Many in the state unit of Bihar are unhappy with the recent developments. The party's Bihar in charge, C P Joshi is in talks with the MLAs to ensure that they stay united. Many in the Congress also are posing the question why Rahul Gandhi did not act if he knew that the alliance was on the verge of a breakup.
The trust vote would make the picture clear. The JD(U)-BJP have claimed that they have the support of 133 MLAs which is ahead of the magic number of 122. They have claimed that their allies and independents would back them taking their number ahead of the magic number. Between the BJP and JD(U) the number is 124.
