IMD warns of hot summers ahead in its first summer forecast
New Delhi, Apr 1: Its time to bring out those summery outfits and stock up on refreshing drinks as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted another scorcher of a summer ahead.
Releasing its first-ever summer forecast for this year, IMD said that the temperatures are likely to remain above normal during April-June.

IMD also said that states like Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Kerala are likely to face the brunt of the heat this summer. IMD said the seasonal temperature would be above normal by more than one degree Celsius over Northwest India.
There will also be periodic heat wave alerts and warnings for the entire summer season (April-June), IMD added.
The weather forecast will be updated every five days starting from April 1.
IMD has also attributed the El-Nino to the above normal temperature. 2015 was the warmest year ever recorded since 1901. The country has also witnessed warm January and February, making it the warmest winter.
