IMD Issues Alert for Cyclone Biparjoy: Check Latest Update Here
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert in view of very severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy. This powerful cyclone is expected to make landfall between Mandvi in Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan, near the Jakhau Port in Gujarat, tomorrow noon. With maximum sustained wind speeds of 125-135 kmph and gusts reaching up to 150 kmph, Biparjoy poses a significant threat to the region.
In viewof the cyclone's impact, the IMD has forecasted prolonged rainfall over coastal areas of Gujarat from June 14 to 16. Furthermore, the border between Gujarat and Rajasthan is expected to experience very heavy rains from June 16 to 18. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on the latest weather bulletins.

Meanwhile, other parts of India are also bracing for severe weather conditions. Widespread rainfall, accompanied by isolated heavy to very heavy falls, is anticipated across northeastern, eastern, and southern India in the coming days.
Specifically, regions such as Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagarh, and Morbi districts of Saurashtra & Kutch are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall, with heavy to very heavy and extremely heavy falls at isolated places on June 14. The intensity of rainfall is expected to escalate on June 15, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few locations in Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Rajkot, Morbi, and Junagarh districts of Gujarat. Additionally, Saurashtra and north Gujarat regions are expected to experience isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall.
As the monsoon progresses, north Gujarat and adjoining south Rajasthan can expect light to moderate rainfall on June 16, with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places.

Furthermore, widespread rains and thunderstorms are predicted in various regions, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka, Goa, and Lakshadweep.
Specific areas such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, and Ladakh could experience scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Interior Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh may receive isolated rainfall, with a chance of lightning.
With the cyclone Biparjoy and the widespread monsoon activity, citizens across the affected regions are advised to stay cautious, heed official warnings, and remain updated on the evolving weather conditions.
