I'm Still Effective, Whether I am 82 or 92: Sharad Pawar On Ajit Pawar's Ageist Jibe
After Ajit Pawar attacked him over his old age, Sharad Pawar said today after a meeting of the party's national executive, "I am still effective, whether I am 82 or 92."
Reacting to estranged nephew Ajit Pawar, who on Wednesday, said it was time for his uncle to retire and hand over the reins of the NCP to him, Sharad Pawar said,"I am still effective, whether I am 82 or 92. There's no importance if Ajit Pawar says something. Now, whatever we need to say, we will say it before the Election Commission of India.''

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar took a veiled dig at his uncle Sharad Pawar regarding his age that left the NCP chief's party members and loyalists fuming and resulted into a chain of reactions.
On Wednesday, taking a swipe, Ajit Pawar urged Sharad Pawar to step down and give a chance to the new generation stating that even leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retire at the age of 75.
NCP working president Supriya Sule slammed Ajit Pawar for taking a dig at her father and party veteran Sharad Pawar over his age.
"Some people are saying that people who are senior now should give us blessings. Why should they stop working? Ratan Tata is 86 years old. Serum Institute's Cyrus Poonawala's age is 84. Amitabh Bachchan is 82," Sule said while addressing the party gathering in Mumbai.
