The NIA is also looking into 17 other cases in which Hindu leaders were murdered.

More proof that IM had hand in RSS worker's murder

The NIA which is probing the alleged role of Asim Shariff, leader of the Popular Front of India says that records have revealed he was in touch with the Indian Mujahideen. It is not just this case, but the NIA is also looking into 17 other cases in which Hindu leaders were murdered.

The NIA and the ministry for Home Affairs contended that the 17 murders of Hindu leaders in South India are interlinked. They bear a similarity and could be part of the same modus operandi, the NIA has contended.

The NIA, however, made it clear that all angles probed suggest that the killers of Rudresh were linked to both the Indian Mujahideen and the al-Ummah. It is said that the killers are targeting Hindu leaders in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. These are trained assassins, the NIA contended.

The NIA states that links have been found between the killers and an IM operative Syed Islmail Afaque who was arrested in January 2015. Afaque was associated with the PFI at one time, the NIA has also learnt.
