IIT Bombay Student Dances To 'Munni Badnaam Hui', Netizens React As Video Goes Viral | WATCH

A video purportedly showing students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay dancing to the Bollywood song 'Munni Badnaam' has gone viral on social media, sparking a heated debate.

While the clip has been widely shared, one post on X by the user @venom1s shows a female student performing with others visible in the background. The video has received mixed reactions, with some deeming the performance inappropriate, while others saw no issue with it.

The video has not been posted on the institute's official social media channels, and IIT Bombay has yet to release any statement regarding the matter.

The controversy has arisen from differing opinions. Some internet users criticised the dance, questioning whether it was fitting for one of India's most prestigious engineering institutions. One user remarked, "People go to IIT to study, so what is happening here?"

Another described it as "inappropriate."

These critics argued that such performances were inconsistent with the values expected from an academic institution like IIT Bombay.

However, not all responses were negative. Many users defended the students, criticising the moral policing and insisting there was nothing wrong with the dance. One user asked, "What is the issue, actually?"

Another commented, "This just proves that IITians are good at everything," with others echoing the sentiment, saying, "Nothing wrong in it."

Recently, IIT Bombay also made headlines for its 2023-24 placement report, which revealed that 25% of students had not secured jobs through campus placements.

Despite the institute's rigorous academic environment, some students received job offers with annual salaries as low as Rs 4 lakh.
