Amit Shah Inaugurates Sulphuric Acid Plant-III at IFFCO's Paradip Unit, Highlights Role in India's Self-Reliance

Union Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah inaugurated IFFCO Paradip Sulphuric Acid Plant III, highlighting its role in boosting domestic fertiliser production and self-reliance. Odisha's Chief Minister and other dignitaries attended, with officials emphasising improved logistics, employment, and industrial growth through this cooperative milestone.

Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated Sulphuric Acid Plant-III at the IFFCO unit in Paradip and addressed a cooperative seminar organized on the occasion. The event was attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and several other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah said the newly inaugurated sulphuric acid plant at IFFCO Paradip will play a crucial role in advancing India's journey towards self-reliance in sulphuric acid production. He emphasized that strengthening domestic industrial capacity is essential for achieving the goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the establishment of the new plant in Paradip will provide fresh momentum to industrial development in the state and contribute to economic growth and employment generation.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan noted that the project will significantly strengthen the country's fertilizer production capacity, which will ultimately benefit the agricultural sector. IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani, in his welcome address, described the occasion as a moment of great pride for IFFCO Paradip. He said the unit already houses the world's largest single-reactor phosphoric acid plant, reflecting the organization's strong technological capabilities and efficient management.

He also highlighted that in 2022 IFFCO Paradip established Odisha's first riverine jetty, which allows goods to be transported directly from the plant to the port, improving logistics and operational efficiency.

Sanghani added that it was a historic achievement for a cooperative institution to acquire a private plant and transform it into one of the best facilities in the country. According to him, the project stands as a strong example of the power of cooperation, technological excellence and commitment to nation-building.

He further noted that the visit marked the first time a Union Minister has visited the IFFCO Paradip unit, which has encouraged the team and strengthened their commitment to further progress.

The event was attended by Odisha Minister of State for Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Sampad Chandra Swain, Member of Parliament from Jagatsinghpur Bibhu Prasad Tarai, IFFCO Vice Chairman Balveer Singh, IFFCO Managing Director K. J. Patel, IFFCO Paradip Unit Head P. K. Mahapatra, members of the IFFCO Board of Directors, and other distinguished guests.
