If Modi is finished then India will be saved: Congress leader

"Our fight is not with Adani, our fight is with BJP, kill BJP, Adani-Ambani will be finished themselves," SS Randhawa said.

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Congress of dreaming of digging "grave for him", a leader from the grand old party has triggered a controversy by saying the country will be saved if the PM is "finished".

"You should end your fights and talk about finishing Modi, if Modi is finished then India will be saved...Modi doesn't know meaning of 'deshbhakti'," ANI quoted Congress leader SS Randhawa as saying in the clip.

He was speaking at an event where he targeted PM as well as Gautam Adani, who has come under attack from Opposition parties ever since his group alleged of of fraudulent transactions and share price manipulation by a US-based short-seller. "If Modi is finished then Adani will itself be removed...our fight is not with Adani, our fight is with BJP, kill BJP, Adani-Ambani will be finished themselves...When Congress comes back Adani, Ambani should not come with them," he added.

Ironically, the Prime Minister had lashed out at the Congress for such language used against him by the grand old party on Sunday.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, the Prime Minister accused the Congress of being busy digging his grave, while he was striving for the development of the country and the welfare of the poor.

"Amid the efforts of the double engine government for the development of the country and the progress of its people, what is Congress and its associates doing? ...Congress is dreaming about digging the kabr (grave) of Modi," PTI quoted him as saying.

"Congress is busy digging the grave of Modi, while Modi is busy building Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway. Congress is busy digging Modi's grave, while Modi is busy in improving the lives of poor. Congress people who are dreaming about digging the grave of Modi, don't know that the blessings of crores of mothers, sisters, daughters, and people is the biggest protection shield for Modi," he added.

Congress leaders had earlier raised "Modi teri kabar khudegi" slogan after party leader Pawan Khera was stopped from boarding a flight to Chhattisgarh's Raipur at the Delhi airport.
