West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Encourages Women to Identify Fake Videos for Rewards
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called on women in the state to help police tackle misinformation and fake videos that lead to crime. She highlighted that those aiding in identifying and capturing offenders could receive rewards or job offers. "Whenever you notice the spread of false information, I am entrusting you women with the responsibility to take to Facebook and X, post those images marked as fake, and send them to the police cybercrime unit. I encourage you to unite," she said.

Banerjee praised women for their societal understanding, stating they are the "real stars." She instructed police to offer 100 rewards to women who assist in identifying and arresting criminals. These women may also be considered for job opportunities. "You manage affairs both at home and in the community," she added.
Encouraging Women's Participation in Policing
The Chief Minister expressed her wish for increased female representation in the police force. She noted a rise in female officers compared to previous years and plans to employ more women under the Winners initiative. "I want to see more women in the police force," Banerjee stated.
Banerjee's remarks came during the inauguration of Durga Puja at Kolkata Police Body Guard Lines. She virtually inaugurated about 400 Durga Pujas, mainly in districts, before unveiling popular pujas in Kolkata personally.
This initiative aims to empower women by involving them actively in community safety efforts. By leveraging social media platforms like Facebook and X, women can play a crucial role in curbing misinformation.
The Chief Minister's call aligns with efforts to enhance community policing and ensure public safety through collective action. Her emphasis on women's roles highlights their importance in maintaining societal harmony.
