Iconic Doordarshan logo set to change
The iconic Doordarshan logo is set to change with the state-owned broadcaster having invited entries from the public for a new logo design.
The current logo, which is nostalgic especially for those having brought up in the 80s and 90s, is in existence since 1959. The current logo symbolises an eye.
The newly appointed CEO of Prasar Bharti Shashi Shekhar Vempati opined that the majority of the current population do not connect with the current logo.
"They don't share the same nostalgia factor which the earlier generation did," he said.

This comes as a part of Prasar Bharati's efforts to revive the viewership and finances of the entire Doordarshan network.
Reports say that the new logo would aim at improving the look and feel of the network.
The logo design winner will get a prize of Rs 1 lakh as per the Doordarshan website. Any Indian national can participate in the competition. Doordarshan is looking for a new logo which recalls the nostalgia associated with DD and should also reflect the aspirations of new India.
