ICICI Bank launches iWork@home for women employees

Mumbai, March 8: This woman's day, ICICI bank set a benchmark for all financial sectors that function in stringent environments. Owing to the growing responsibilites of a working woman, the bank has rolled out an option to work from home on an extensive basis, depending on their needs.

The initiative iWork@home uses a technology to enable women employees to continue working during pregnancy, or while taking care of parents.

In this, women will be provided safe access to their operating systems to create an office like environment, initially for a year. This technology platform has been developed in partnership with the students of Delhi IIT.

Chanda Kochhar, MD at ICICI Bank said,"We wanted to create a stronger support system for women to ensure that they do not leave the workforce at key life stages. We decided to use technology to make life simpler for women managers."

However, the bank will also ensure that while rolling out the facility across several core functions, the productivity is not lost.

The systems will have a 3level security protocol to ensure that only the concerned employees log in and no one else has access to the database. A unique facial recognition technology will also be put on place to avoid impersonation.

Apart from that, women managers with children of up to 3 years will be given the cost of travel, stay of the child and caregiver. Kochhar said,"This will help our young managers focus on their work without emotional stress of staying away from their children."
