IAS officer DK Ravi's death: Now, parents threaten to commit suicide
Bengaluru, March 18: The demands for a CBI probe into the death of IAS officer D K Ravi Kumar only got louder with his parents joining the protest.
In a strongly worded message to the government the parents of the deceased officer have threatened to commit suicide if the government does not order a CBI probe into the matter.
The government however has stayed firm and has refused a CBI probe stating that the state police and it's specialised unit the Criminal Investigation Department is capable of handling the probe.
BJP urges union government:
Meanwhile, the state BJP has stepped up the pressure demanding a CBI probe. The union law minister Sadananda Gowda met with the union home minister Rajnath Singh and emphasised the need to hand over the probe to the CBI.
The union home minister who assured to look into the matter, however, felt that the state should look into it first.
Those demanding a CBI probe have the option of moving the high court too.
Apart from the state and union government the high court and the supreme Court have the suo motu powers to order a CBI probe into any incident.
