IAS officer DK Ravi's death: CBI probe only after CID report
Bengaluru, March 20: The demands within the Congress to hand over the probe into the death of IAS officer, D K Ravi to the CBI is getting louder.
The entire Cabinet was a divided house and some had even said that the migrants into the party were not worried about the image of the party and hence were trying to block a CBI probe.

Sources in the Karnataka government tell Oneindia that there is a likelihood that the CBI probe may be recommended after a preliminary report by the CID is filed on Monday.
Party image taking a beating:
After the refusal by the Chief Minister and the Home Minister to hand over the probe to the CBI, some in the Congress called Sonia Gandhi and briefed her about the issue.
They told her that the image of the party is taking a beating and hence the Chief Minister should be convinced to hand it over to the CBI.
The Chief Minister who headed the cabinet meeting yesterday was repeatedly told by a section of the party to hand over the probe to the CBI.
However, both The CM and Home Minister were adamant that the case shall be probed by the CID itself. They felt that it would read very badly on their officers if the CBI was roped in at this juncture.
We need to have our own report:
The argument by the CM and the HM was that it is wrong to hand over the probe to the CBI at such an early juncture.
Let the state police do their job and after they give their preliminary findings we can think of handing over the case to the CBI.
Many in the government felt that they should have material of their own and concrete evidence before the CBI takes over the probe.
If the CBI is given the responsibility they would first have to depend on the CID for the initial findings based on which the probe would go further.
Target Siddaramaiah:
It is a well known fact that Siddaramaiah has several opponents in the Congress. In hushed tones many call him a migrant into the party after he quit the JD(S) and joined the Congress.
The fact that he became the Chief Minister is something that many had not taken too well.
Many of his opponents feel that if the CBI takes over the probe they would go beyond the case of D K Ravi and also look into the companies that he had planned on raiding.
The CM's opponents are of the view that the CBI could well expose a nexus between some companies and the CM's close aides during the course of investigation.
