IAS couple sets an example, spend Rs 500 on marriage

IAS officers D R Saloni Sidana and Ashish Vashishta spent Rs 500 as court fees to Bhind additional district magistrate and tied the knot recently

An IAS couple threw the idea of a lavish wedding out the window after spending just Rs 500 on their marriage. The simple court marriage of the IAS couple has come as an example at a time the country is grappling with cash crunch.

IAS officers D R Saloni Sidana and Ashish Vashishta spent Rs 500 as court fees to Bhind additional district magistrate and tied the knot recently. The bride Dr Saloni even reported to work within 48 hours of her marriage. Dr Saloni is the Sub-Collector of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh while the groom Ashish Vashishta is an IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh Cadre.

Returning to work within 2 days of her marriage, Dr Saloni chose to share her happiness by distributing sweets to colleagues. "It is a very personal affair and we chose to keep it simple",she told the press. The simple marriage affair was witnessed by the couple's family and close friends with no big party or lavish dinner.
