‘I Touch My Wife’s Feet When…’: Ravi Kishan’s Bhojpuri Remark Leaves the House in Laughter -Watch

BJP MP Ravi Kishan strongly supported the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, calling it a matter of "sanskaar" (values) rather than politics.

His speech stood out for its emotional tone, personal experiences, and a heartfelt mention of women's struggles in rural India.

"This Is Not a Political Issue"

Rejecting opposition claims, Ravi Kishan said:

"Ye koi rajneetik mudda nahi hai... vipaksh kehte hain chunav chal raha hai. Ye log virodh kar rahe hain mahilaon ke aarakshan ka."

(This is not a political issue... the opposition says elections are going on. These people are opposing women's reservation.)

At this point, the presiding chair Jagdambika Pal added humorously:
"Ka baa, bata d?"

(What's the matter, go ahead and tell us?)

Ravi Kishan continued:

"Ye sanskaar hai BJP ka, ye Modi ji ke sanskaar ka mudda hai."
(This is a matter of BJP's values, this reflects PM Modi's values.)

"Vipaksh ke neta apni rajshahi backyard ki kahani suna rahe the... main apni gareebi ki kahani batata hoon."
(Opposition leaders were narrating stories from their royal backyards... I will tell you the story of my poverty.)

He shared his childhood struggles:

"Mere gaon mein chulha nahi tha, sauchalay nahi tha... mahilaon ko shaam ka intezaar karna padta tha ki andhere mein jaa sakein. Maine woh dard dekha hai."
(In my village, there was no stove, no toilet... women had to wait for the evening to go out in the dark. I have seen that pain.)

"Maine apni dadi ko bhi takleef mein dekha hai... chulha phookte hue."
(I have seen my grandmother suffer too... blowing the stove.)

Ravi Kishan credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi:
"PM Modi ji aaye, mahilaon ke dard ka vistaar hua, nivaran hua, desh jagruk hua."
(When PM Modi came, women's issues were acknowledged, solutions came, and the country became aware.)

He added:

"Ye vipaksh desh ki aadhi abaadi ka dard nahi samajh paaye."
(The opposition failed to understand the pain of half the country's population.)
"Women Are Leading Everywhere Today"

Highlighting women's achievements:

"Aaj mahila fighter jet uda rahi hai, gram panchayat mein hai, sena mein hai, sports aur cricket mein aage hai."
(Today women are flying fighter jets, leading in village councils, serving in the army, and excelling in sports and cricket.)

He questioned:

"Phir aap unke liye darwaze kyun band kar rahe hain?"
(Then why are you closing doors for them?)
Light Moment in House: Wife Remark and Exchange

The House turned lively when Jagdambika Pal said:
"Aapka bhi prachar aapki patni hi karti hai."
(Your wife also campaigns for you, doesn't she?)

Ravi Kishan replied:

"Ji haan... mujhe lakhon vote milta hai, lekin mera 1-1.5 lakh vote meri dharam patni leke aati hain. Main unke pair chhoota hoon."
(Yes... I get lakhs of votes, but 1-1.5 lakh votes are brought in by my wife. I touch her feet.)

Pal asked again:

"To aap patni ka pair chhoote hain na?"
(So you do touch your wife's feet, right?)
Ravi Kishan responded emotionally:
"Hum chhoote hain... aur sabko chhoona chahiye. Ye hi Lakshmi hain, ye hi devi hain."
(Yes, I do... and everyone should. She is like Lakshmi, she is like a goddess.)
He added:
"Jab mere paas paisa nahi tha, jab main struggle kar raha tha, tab meri patni mere saath thi... to main unke pair kyun na chhoon?"
(When I had no money, when I was struggling, my wife stood by me... so why shouldn't I touch her feet?)
In a lighter tone:
"Wo chhoone nahi deti... to jab wo gehri neend mein hoti hain tab main unke pair chho leta hoon."
(She doesn't allow me... so when she is in deep sleep, I touch her feet.)
Jagdambika Pal joked:
"Ab aapka kaam ban gaya... door-door tak sandesh chala gaya ki aisa bhi koi patni-vrata hai."
(Now your job is done... the message has spread far and wide that such a devoted husband exists.)

Women Want Representation

Ravi Kishan shared voices from his constituency:

"Hamare gaon ki behen-betiyaan kehti hain-bhaiya ab humko bhi mauka milega, hum bhi sadan mein aayenge, apni awaaz uthayenge."
(Women in my village say-brother, now we will also get a chance, we will come to Parliament and raise our voice.)

He added:

"140 crore ki abaadi mein 70 crore mahilayein hain."
(Out of 140 crore population, 70 crore are women.)

Strong Message to Opposition

Ending his speech, he said:

"Main kehta hoon mahilaon ko 33% milna chahiye... agar ye pass nahi hua to vipaksh ko mahilaon ka vote nahi milega."
(I say women must get 33% reservation... if this is not passed, the opposition will not get women's votes.)
