Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel on Monday expressed confidence of winning Rajya Sabha election despite accusing the Gujarat's ruling BJP of hatching a conspiracy against him.

Speaking to the reporters, Patel said, "I have full confidence of my victory and the result will surprise everyone. I will also hold meeting with all our Gujarat MLAs individually.

"This poll is not at all about anyones prestige. I have full faith in my MLAs. Apart from these 44 (Congress) legislators, two of NCP and one of JD(U) would give their vote to me," he said in response to a query on how he would get the magic number of 45 to win the poll.

Forty-four MLAs of the Gujarat Congress were flown to a resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where the Congress is in power, 10 days ago by the party so as to secure their votes in the Rajya Sabha poll in Gujarat on Tuesday.
