“I Did It My Way”: Modi And Mallya’s Karaoke Stunt Sparks Outrage Online

In a scene straight out of a high-society thriller, former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi and fugitive tycoon Vijay Mallya took center stage at a lavish summer soirée in London, delivering a dramatic karaoke rendition of Frank Sinatra's "I Did It My Way"-a choice of song that didn't go unnoticed, considering their controversial pasts.

Held at Modi's opulent London residence, the star-studded event drew over 310 guests, including former cricketer Chris Gayle, who gifted Modi a bat from one of his record-breaking T20 innings. The highlight, however, was the impromptu musical duet between Modi and Mallya, a performance that quickly went viral after Modi posted the video on Instagram.

Describing the evening as "amazing," Modi thanked his friends and family and went on to call Mallya a "good friend" with an "everlasting spirit." The internet, however, erupted with mixed reactions-some amused by the spectacle, others outraged at the display of extravagance by two men wanted by Indian authorities.

Both figures remain in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Lalit Modi has been accused of financial misconduct, bid-rigging, and money laundering, and has lived in the UK since 2010. Vijay Mallya, meanwhile, is wanted for defaulting on loans worth over ₹9,000 crore related to his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines and has been classified as a fugitive economic offender since fleeing to the UK in 2016.

Despite their legal troubles, both men appeared unfazed at the event, mingling with elite guests and enjoying their evening under the London sky. Their duet-both symbolic and controversial-has added yet another layer to the ongoing saga surrounding two of India's most high-profile absconders.
