Hydrophobic Weed Worth Rs 15 Crore Seized At Delhi Airport
Customs officials at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Tuesday reported that they have caught a big quantity of hydrophobic weed which worth over Rs 15 crore. According to the reprots, a woman who was traveling from Bangkok to Paris, with a stoppage in Delhi was carrying the weed and has been detained by the officials.
Officials told media that they got a tip about the weed smuggling and hence checking her luggage the illegal material was seized. A scan of the baggage revealed suspicious contents, prompting further investigation. To confirm their suspicions, officers enlisted the help of a dog from the K9 squad. "The duty dog indicated the presence of narcotics substance," stated the department in a post on X.

Details of the case:
Upon opening the bag in the passenger's presence, officials discovered 15.046 kg of what appeared to be hydrophobic weed. This substance is classified under the NDPS Act, 1985. Consequently, the passenger has been detained for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation into the matter.
The seized substance's estimated value stands at Rs 15.04 crore. This incident highlights the vigilance and efficiency of customs officials in intercepting illegal substances and enforcing drug-related laws.
The use of trained dogs played a crucial role in identifying and confirming the presence of narcotics in this case. Such measures are essential for maintaining security and preventing illicit activities at major transit points like IGI Airport.
