Hyderabad: Case registered against song featuring internet sensation Priya Prakash
A group of Muslim youth from Hyderabad on Wednesday filed a complaint at Falaknuma Police Station against internet sensation Priya Prakash Varrier and the makers of the song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' from 'Oru Adaar Love' for allegedly hurting their sentiments.
According to TV reports, in the written complaint, the youth filed complaint against the song featuring Priya for hurting the sentiments of Muslim community. However, the complaint says nothing against the actress.
The report says that 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi', when translated into English, insults the Prophet. Adnan Qamar, a Hyderabad man also went live on FB and explained that the expressions were an insult to the lyrics. He also posted the lyrics of the song and the English translation for people to understand. The objection is about the expressions and not the song or the lyrics.
Speaking to ANI, Syed Faiyaz. ACP Falaknuma said,''A person filed complaint against Omar Lulu, the director of Malayalam movie 'Oru Adaar Love'. He claimed that a song of the film is hurting the feelings of Muslim community. Case has been registered under section 295A.''
A case has been registered in this regard.
Composed by Shaan Rahman, the video resonated with many and filled the hearts of people with nostalgia of high school romance.
With her cute articulations and million-dollar grin, Priya's performance has earned more than 1 million views, 50,000+ likes within the initial 20 hours of the melody upload on YouTube.
