Meet Santa 'Cop' with free petrol for drivers in trouble

Hyderabad, Sept 4: A traffic cop of ASI rank in Hyderabad is getting popular in social media for a very unique reason- he provides free petrol to drivers in distress. But that does not come just like that. Only if you are stuck with an empty petrol tank, will Merajuddin Syed come to help. And the best part is, he does not charge anything for this.

Syed carries 6 bottles of petrol in his scooty so that he could help drivers when they need petrol on an emergency basis.

Surprisingly, Syed drew his inspiration from a social media drive that preached kindness and generosity. However, this gesture of his has drawn appreciation from his seniors. The drivers too appreciate his efforts in serving the public. One said,"such small gestures by public servants help a lot in bringing them closer to the people and thus, become a pride for the entire department they represent."

Syed too is content with what he has been doing. "I like when they smile after a messy day. I want people to understand that we are not here just to punish offenders orto take a bribe. But, we can also serve them."
