Hyderabad: Director sexually assaults Telugu actress, case filed

Hyderabad, Nov 3: A Telugu film director landed in a serious legal soup following a complaint filed by an actress. The debutant, who acted in a new low budget Telugu film 24 By Love, accused the director of the movie of molesting her.

The actress of the movie, which has not been released yet, moved the Jubilee Hills Police station alleging that the director VS Phani asked her for sexual favours. The police filed a case following the complaint filed by the actress whose identity has been revealed yet.

According to police sources, the actress came in contact with the director a few years ago and signed the film 24 By Love. The actress claimed that the director allegedly had tried to take advantage of his position and sexually exploited her. He also professed love for her and asked her for sexual favours several times.

A police source was quoted as saying, "The victim said that on Sunday Phani went to her residence in Rahmath Nagar and called her. As she came out he caught hold of her hands and started molesting her. When she tried to resist he hit her too."

Locals came into to her rescue as she raised an alarm. A case has been lodged against the film director under Section 354 of IPC for assaulting a woman with criminal intent to outrage her modesty.

Shooting for the film 24 By Love has been completed and the music launch was held recently. It is a low budget film and is yet to be released.
