Hyderabad: Shia community registers case against 'Satyameva Jayate'

Hyderabad, July 30: A case has been registered against upcoming Bollywood movie John Abraham-starrer Hindi movie Satyameva Jayate by Shia community members on charges of hurting religious sentiments in connection with a 'Maatam' (mourning) clipping shown in the movie.

Satyameva Jayate

On the complaint, based on a trailer, lodged by the BJP Minority Morcha's city general secretary, Syed Ali Jaffry, the Dabeerpura police on Sunday registered a case against the makers of the film for outraging the religious feelings by insulting religion or religious belief under section 295 (A) of IPC and other sections of Cinematography Act, said Dabeerpura inspector D. Venkanna Naik.

The complainants threatened that if the scene is not deleted from the trailer and the movie, they would stage protests and not let the movie release. They also said that they would ensure similar protests were held not just in Hyderabad, but across the country.

The movie is scheduled to be released on August 15. Written and directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, the movie features John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles, along with Amruta Khanvilkar and Aisha Sharma. The plot of the story seemingly revolves around corruption.
