Hyderabad: Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat lands in a legal soup

T Dhangopal Rao, a resident of Hyderbad and a human rights activist, filed a Public Interested Litigation (PIL) in Andhra Pradesh High Court. Mr Rao sought strict against Sherawar who allegedly used Indian tricolour obscenely in her upcoming movie Dirty Politics.
Mr Rao claimed that the Bollywood actress along with the producer of the film -- Mr Kastoor Chand Bokadia had intentionally humiliated the national flag by using it obscenely in one of the promotional posters of the film.
In the poster of the film -- Dirty Politics, Sherawat was found sitting atop a beaconed ambassador car with the tricolour draped below her waist. The petitioner in his appeal to court said that the use of the national flag for commercial purposes was an insult to the nation's honour and urged the court to restrain the producer from further exhibiting or displaying the poster as part of the film's promotion.
Mr Rao also urged the high court to direct the Centre to seize all related material and to punish the guilty for their alleged violation of the provisions of The Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950 and Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
