This year's list includes 1,539 ultra-wealthy individuals, marking an increase of 220 from the previous year. For the first time, the list features over 1,500 entries, each with wealth exceeding Rs 1,000 crore.

The total wealth of those on the Hurun India Rich List 2024 has reached an astounding Rs 159 trillion. This amount surpasses the combined GDP of Saudi Arabia and Switzerland and represents more than half of India's national GDP. The industrial sector contributed the most individuals to this list.

India's Billionaire Boom

The number of billionaires in India has now crossed the triple-century mark, reaching 334. This is six times the number recorded when the list first launched 13 years ago. Industrialist Gautam Adani and his family have secured the top position with a staggering wealth of Rs 11.6 trillion.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made his debut on the list as a billionaire with a wealth of Rs 7,300 crore. His financial growth was attributed to investments in IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders and Red Chillies Entertainment. Other notable figures include Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, and Juhi Chawla.

Youngest and Oldest Billionaires

The youngest billionaires on this year's list are Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar, both aged 33, who founded Razorpay, a payment solution application. Meanwhile, Kaivalya Vohra from Zepto is the youngest overall on the list. The oldest person to debut is Hanwantbir Kaur Sahney at age 95 from NBR Bearings Company.

Indian billionaires reside across 134 cities, with five of the top ten living in Mumbai, India's financial capital. The report highlights that there are now 18 individuals with wealth exceeding Rs 1 trillion each.

This surge in wealth underscores India's growing economic power and highlights significant contributions from various sectors including entertainment and technology.
