Human Error May Have Caused Horrific Odisha Train Accident

It could have been a human error that led to the horrific train accident in Odisha in which over 280 persons were killed.

Initial report from the probe suggest that a human error could have led to the accident. It could have been a signalling issue from the control room of the railways.

The cause of the accident will be identified through an examination.

As per a video from the signalling control room of the Kharagpur division of the Railways, the Chennai bound Coromandel Express took a loop line where the goods train was parked just after crossing Bahanagar Bazar station at about 6.55pm on Friday, instead of the main line, a Railway official said.

The train was running at around 127 kilometres per hour, when it collided with the goods train and derailed on the main line. Within minutes of the collision, the Howrah-bound Yashwantnagar Express coming from the opposite side collided with the Coromandel Express.

An inquiry has been set up as following an announcement by the Railway Minister., Ashwani Vaishnav. He said that the cause of the accident would be known once the inquiry is completed. On being asked if would region, he said that the priority now was rescuing people.
