How To Receive Your e-PAN 2.0 Via Email: Step-by-Step Guide Here
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has announced the PAN 2.0 project, aimed at modernizing the existing Permanent Account Number (PAN) system.
Under this initiative, existing PAN cardholders will automatically receive an electronic version (e-PAN) directly in their registered email inbox without needing to apply for it. Importantly, the current physical PAN cards will remain valid.

The project allows users to update or correct their PAN details-including email, mobile number, address, or demographic information like name and date of birth-free of cost once the system rolls out. Until then, Aadhaar-based online facilities for updates are available without any charge.
Key Features of PAN 2.0
Automatic issuance of e-PAN to existing PAN holders via email.
Free updates for demographic and contact details under the new project.
QR codes embedded in e-PANs for enhanced validation, a feature already partially implemented.
The Rs 1,400 crore project was recently cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to streamline and digitize PAN card services.
