How To Get FASTag Annual Pass, Eligibility, Price

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is set to introduce a FASTag annual pass for frequent highway travellers starting August 15, 2025. This pass, priced at Rs 3,000, offers up to 200 toll-free trips or one year of validity on National Highways and Expressways. It aims to provide significant savings by replacing multiple toll payments with a single yearly fee.

To activate the annual pass, users must verify their vehicle's eligibility and associated FASTag through the Rajmargyatra app or NHAI website. After successful verification, a payment of Rs 3,000 is required for the base year 2025–26. The pass will be activated within two hours once payment is confirmed.

Eligibility and Activation

The FASTag annual pass is exclusively for private cars, jeeps, and vans. Commercial vehicles are not eligible; using the pass in such vehicles will lead to immediate deactivation without notice. Activation can only be done via the Rajmargyatra mobile application or NHAI website.

Once activated, the annual pass allows free passage at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas for either one year or up to 200 trips. It does not cover fee plazas on state highways or local bodies where regular FASTag charges apply.

Coverage and Validity

The annual pass is valid at authorised NH and NE toll plazas but not at those managed by state governments or local bodies. At these locations, the FASTag will function as a regular tag with applicable user fees. The pass remains valid for one year from activation or until 200 trips are completed.

A single trip under this scheme is defined differently based on the type of toll plaza. For point-based plazas, each crossing counts as one trip; a round trip counts as two. For closed tolling plazas, an entry-exit pair constitutes one trip.

Understanding Trip Count

Frequent travellers should ensure timely activation of their passes as only a few days remain before the rollout begins. Once either 200 trips are completed or one year has passed since activation, the annual pass reverts to a regular FASTag unless reactivated.
