How Self Baggage Drop Facility At Delhi Airport Will Reduce Wait Time For Passengers
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has introduced another level of convenience to passengers that will reduce their waiting time.
To make the baggage check-in process quick and hassle-free for flyers, Delhi Airport has introduced the Self-Baggage Drop (SBD) facility. The passenger-friendly initiative aims to streamline the baggage drop-off process to reduce your wait time by approximately 15-20 minutes and further enhance passengers' overall airport experience, the DIAL said in a statement.

The airport has installed 14 self-baggage drop machines, including 12 fully automated and two hybrid devices to ensure a seamless travel experience for passengers.
"While currently, passengers travelling IndiGo will be able to use the facility, five other airlines, including Air India, Vistara, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and British Airways, are likely to allow usage of self-baggage drop for their passengers in the near future," DIAL said in a release.
"DIAL has been working relentlessly towards maximising passenger experience at the Delhi airport through various digitisation and automation initiatives. The Self-Baggage Drop facility aims to make the passengers self-reliant while at the same time reduce the time taken for baggage processing significantly...," DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said.
How To Use The Self-Baggage Drop Facility?
The self-baggage drop offers a simple and efficient two-step process:
First, you can generate your boarding passes and baggage tags at the Self Check-In kiosk. Then, you can attach the baggage tag to your luggage.
After tagging your check-in baggage, you can proceed to the SBD facility, where you can scan your boarding pass, declare your luggage is free of prohibited/dangerous items, and load your baggage onto the designated belt.
Once these steps are completed, the baggage will be automatically transferred to the sorting area and subsequently onto the aircraft. Here, you should note that you don't need to register separately to utilise this facility.
Where is the self-baggage facility counter located?
The self-baggage drop facility is conveniently located at Check-in Row-P of Terminal-3.
Who can use the self-baggage drop service?
While currently, passengers travelling Indigo will be able to use the facility, five other airlines including, Air India, Vistara, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines & British Airways are likely to allow usage of self-baggage drop for their passengers in the near future.
Moreover, after successful testing, the self-baggage drop will be made available for international flyers, according to the DIAL.
