How pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh continues to evade arrest
Pro-Khalistani preacher and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh escaped in his car like no tomorrow when the Punjab Police intercepted him near Jalandhar. Amritpal indulged in a cat-and-mouse chase in attempt to dodge the cops by switching vehicles.

The Khalisthani leader, who is still on the run was last seen speeding away on a motorcycle last evening in Jalandhar.
As the operation went underway, authorities stepped up security at several places and suspended internet and SMS services in the state till Sunday noon.
How Amritpal Singh evaded police?
In a bid to nab Amritpal Singh, the police were patiently waiting for Waris Punjab De chief to leave his village Jallupur Khera for Jalandhar where he was to participate in a couple of programmes. The police had decided to not enter his stronghold village to arrest him as that may have led to law and order issues.
Singh was covered by three SUVs were in his convoy with his Mercedes in the middle. When the car entered the Shahkot-Malsian road near Jalandhar that nearly 60 police cars intercepted the convoy and one of the SUVs of Singh was hit in the process.
In a swift action, the police nabbed seven armed guards of Singh but Amritpal Singh, present in the third car, managed to escape from the spot. According to the News18 report, his car and phone were found dumped in a ditch to throw the police officials off his trail. While some say, he escaped from there on a bike. The police suspect he is hiding around the Sarinh village of Nakodar.
Pak behind pushing Amritpal Singh back to India
Singh, aged around 30, was a truck driver in Dubai before the ISI, with the help of Khalistan supporters based outside India, radicalised him so that he could plunge Punjab again into the dark days of terrorism.
Threatening Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Punjab Chief Minister Bagwant Singh Mann, the radical Sikh preacher had been openly making statements about declaring secession from India and forming Khalistan.
"With the help of overseas Sikh separatists, Pakistan's external spy agency ISI has been the brain behind pushing Amritpal Singh back to India with an aim to revive terrorism in Punjab, according to a PTI report.
Amritpal's rise in Punjab
Amritpal who out of the blue landed in Punjab and took over the Waris Punjab De following the death of Deep Sidhu was based in Dubai. According to a report in the Times of India, Amritpal would read about terrorist, Jarnail Bhindranwale and other radicals during the time of COVID-19. He gradually developed ties with radical elements such as Deep Sidhu and even began interfering in the farmer protests. It was at this time that he was identified by Pakistan's ISI, which decided to prop him as a pro-Khalistan icon. The ISI has for long tried to bring back the Khalistan movement in Punjab and in Amritpal, they found the perfect candidate.
He has intentionally modelled himself on the lines of Bhindranwale as it will help him get the desired traction. The danger is that he appeals to a section of the people who have been born in the post-militancy era. Those who have lived through the militancy-era may not necessarily subscribe to his views, but the danger that persists is among the youth.
