How Narendra Modi leaves a major impact on Assam politics

The announcement of Modi as the prime ministerial candidate and the AIDUF's decision to field candidates from all the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state have made the Congress about a massive polarization of the votes. Hence, the Congress might not have any other option but befriend Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, the iconic AIUDF leader who was a big influence on minorities, religious and linguistic, and also some hilly tribes.
Congress might not have any other option
According to the report, the Congress has already deployed senior politicians like Ahmad Patel and Ghulam Nabi Azad in the field to see that the Congress does not suffer a big blow in the state in the prestige battle.
It will be interesting to see how Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who does not share the best of relation with Ajmal despite the latter's party being a member of the Congress-led United Progress Alliance at the Centre and opposes him as a political strategy to keep the Assamese Hindu votes in his favour, reacts to the compelling situation created by Modi's elevation on the national stage.
