How Many Encounters Happened Under Yogi Govt? UP Police Shares Data

The Uttar Pradesh Police has unveiled its annual report detailing crime reduction efforts in the state. This report was compiled under the guidance of DGP Prashant Kumar. It highlights that since CM Yogi's administration began in 2017, the police have neutralised 217 criminals in encounters up to December 28.

In addition to these encounters, 7,799 criminals sustained injuries during confrontations within the same timeframe. The total number of apprehended criminals with bounties reached 19,955. Under the Gangster Act, authorities registered 25,238 cases and arrested 78,977 individuals. Furthermore, 924 arrests were made under the National Security Act (NSA).

Property Seizures and Loudspeaker Regulations

The report also reveals that property valued at Rs 14,090 crore was seized from criminals under the Gangster Act. Over four years, illegal assets worth more than Rs 4,067 crore belonging to 68 mafias and their associates were either demolished or confiscated. Additionally, actions against unlawful loudspeakers at religious sites resulted in the removal of 1,09,437 units and a volume reduction for 1,65,515 loudspeakers.

Efforts on Women's Safety and Drug Control

Regarding women's safety initiatives, between March 22, 2017, and April 1, 2022, there were 13,244 cases registered with legal proceedings initiated against 18,826 accused individuals. From April 2, 2022 to December 27, 2024, another set of statistics showed that there were 10,584 cases filed against 13,151 accused persons.

In anti-narcotics operations during this period, UP Police registered a total of 27,549 cases. They successfully recovered drugs valued at Rs 2,629.69 crore.
