How IT dept sprung a surprise on resort housing Gujarat MLAs near Bengaluru
The IT department sprung an element of surprise when it launched simultaneous raids at multiple locations.
The Income Tax raids being conducted at the resort near Bengaluru housing the 40 odd Gujarat MLAs was carried out with the help of the Central Reserve Police Force. It was a high profile operation and it was decided that the sleuths would also raid the residences of Karnataka minister D K Shivakumar and hence the department did not want the information to leak.

The IT department roped in the central security force for protection during the raids. None in the Karnataka police were aware of such a raid and this was a deliberate ploy on part of the department to prevent the information from leaking, a source informed OneIndia.
The department officials decided on conducting the raid following complaints about huge sums of money being spent to house the MLAs from Gujarat who were brought in to avoid poaching ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections.
All the MLAs at the resort have been told to show their bills to check the money trail. Every vehicle at the resort too is being checked to find out if there is any cash in it.

The officials are scrutinising several documents that have been recovered at the locations. All documents and other relevant material are being scrutinised by a team of 80 officials of the IT department.
