'How in Muslims, one husband marries 4 women?' Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has once again created a controversy after he questioned polygamy in Muslims.

"Today the country is developing, then how in Muslims, one husband marries 4 women? We are happy when 2 or 3 children are born, but if you tell a woman to give birth to 10-12 children, then it sounds like a baby-making machine," ANI quoted Sarma as stating in Mulki in Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka.

He then targeted Rahul Gandhi over his party's poll promises to the voters of Karnataka. "Congress said we guarantee the people of Karnataka. Firstly, tell me who will take Rahul Gandhi's guarantee? He lost elections in UP & went to Kerala. One day his face becomes like Saddam Hussein's and another day like Amul baby," he said.

Earlier, Sarma said that the Congress manifesto has exposed the party's mindset and its hatred for the majority community, culture and dharma of the country.

He said that the Congress' manifesto is a document of appeasement politics and accused the previous Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka of withdrawing several cases registered against activists of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI).

The ASSAM CM then criticised the grand old party for equating the PFI and the Bajrang Dal.

Meanwhile, the Assam CM responded to the KPCC chief DK Shivakumar's comment that Sarma is having the Congress DNA.

"The blood coursing through my veins originates from my parents, my state, and my country, and I am exceedingly proud of this fact. I request dear DK Shivakumar Ji to similarly take pride in his own blood, which flows from his parents, sacred land of Karnataka, and Bharat Mata," Sarma tweeted.

Speaking to reporters, the KPCC chief had said, "Himanta Biswa Sarma's DNA is Congress DNA. He should know that his blood is Congress' blood, Gandhi's blood. Now he has changed his blood."
