How Have The Turncoats Performed In The Karnataka Elections?

Ahead of the Karnataka elections, there were turncoats from both the Congress as well as the BJP.

18 from the BJP were turncoats, while the Congress fielded 23 such candidates. A turncoat is one who has taken part in the previous elections as a candidate of another recognised state or national party.

How Have The Turncoats Performed In The Karnataka Elections?

In terms of strike rate, 69.6 per cent of such candidates from the Congress did better when compared to the 5.6 per cent in the BJP.

Prior to the elections many from the BJP left the party after being denied tickets by the party. Some of the prominent leaders who left the party were Jagadish Shettar and Laxman Savadi.

  • Jagadish Shettar: Trailing in Hubli-Dharwad Central.
  • K S Kiran Kumar: Trailing from the Chiknayakanahalli constituency.
  • Baburao Chinchansur: Leading from Gurmitkal seat.
  • N Y Gopalkrishna: Leading on Molakmuru seat.
  • H D Thammaiah: Leading in Chickamagalur.
  • M T B Nagaraj: Lost from Hoskote.
