How Delhi Police is Helping People in Flood-Hit Areas
As the situation in Delhi remains critical following heavy rainfall and unexpected flooding, the city continues to grapple with the aftermath.
Localities are submerged, water levels have risen to waist level, and the devastation has left public and private infrastructure crippled. In this desperate time, people are seeking any help they can get.

Amid this exigency, the Delhi Police has emerged as a ray of hope. Working tirelessly, they have become the frontline warriors in rescuing people and animals trapped in low-lying areas. The force is fully committed, working day and night to carry out intensive rescue operations.
Yesterday, we witnessed a critical rescue operation in Seelampur, North-East Delhi. The area was on the verge of flooding as the Yamuna river water rose rapidly. Without wasting a moment, the Delhi Police and the NDRF units sprang into action, launching an operation in the low-lying areas. Their mission was twofold: to rescue the residents and to save the cattle who were unable to escape from the rising water on their own.
The water levels reached distressing heights, forcing the Delhi Police and NDRF units to utilize boats for reaching people. The operation lasted an entire day, but every life was saved. The rescued residents were provided temporary shelter until the administration deems it safe for them to return home.
By the end of the day, these brave men had rescued over 2000 people in Seelampur and the surrounding areas alone. Their unwavering dedication and swift action undoubtedly made a significant difference.

Rescuing animals, however, presents its own challenges. Such operations can quickly turn perilous when an animal becomes scared and reacts unpredictably. Officials highlighted the risks associated with these rescue missions.
Around 1200 cows were rescued by the NDRF using inflatable boats, and mobile veterinary centers were set up on-site to address any water-borne diseases.
As residents begin the process of rebuilding their lives and homes, hoping that the worst is behind them, these heroes shift their focus to the next battle - another locality, more families, and another endless day.
The Delhi Police's selfless efforts, courage, and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the city's residents during this crisis are truly commendable.
