Hotelier Prahlad Advani Counters Wife's Torture Allegations as Divorce Looms
In a recent development from Mumbai, hotelier Prahlad Advani has been embroiled in controversy following accusations from his wife of assault and mental torture. The allegations, which have led to a police case, were countered by Advani on Thursday, suggesting that the root of these accusations lies in matrimonial discord. Advani's legal team released a statement late Thursday evening, addressing the claims made against him and his family.

The statement highlighted that the allegations made by Advani's wife in the First Information Report (FIR) at Worli police station are "reckless, baseless, and false." It further expressed concern over the use of police machinery to leverage personal disputes, describing it as an unfortunate situation where the family is held "at ransom" to settle matrimonial discord.
Advani, who holds the position of chief executive officer at Advani Hotels, and his legal representatives argue that the accusations are a retaliatory move following his expressed desire to seek a divorce. A notice indicating his intention was sent to his wife on April 15, preceding the filing of the domestic violence complaint by her in the magistrate’s court. Additionally, a divorce petition by Advani is currently pending before the family court.
The legal team is confident in disproving the allegations with documentary evidence, asserting that they will cooperate with the police to demonstrate the inaccuracies and falsehoods within the complaint. The statement also mentioned that Advani's 43-year-old wife implicated his parents, Sundargurdas, aged 85, and Menaka, aged 78, in her complaint. She alleges to have been subjected to torture from November 2012 to June 12, 2024. Following her allegations, a case covering charges of criminal breach of trust, voluntarily causing hurt, and intentional insult was registered by the police.
This case has drawn attention not only due to the involvement of a known business figure but also because of the implications it has on personal and legal fronts. The unfolding events will likely be closely monitored as both parties present their evidence and arguments before the court.
