Hospitality In The Storm: Amid Rain Fury, Himachal Hotels Offer Free Stay And Meals To Stranded Tourists

Himachal Pradesh is the worst-hit state as heavy rain in several parts of India has brought the region to its knees, claiming more than 34 lives in the past three days.

Heavy rains pounded the state, triggering landslides, water has relentlessly flowed onto streets drowning homes damaging houses and leaving several people dead. But the spirit of the city remains daunted with people helping each other out with food and relief supplies.

In a heartwarming gesture, some hotels have extended a helping hand by offering free accommodation during these challenging times exemplifying the motto 'Atithi Devo Bhav' (guest is God).

These hotels understand the difficulties faced by individuals caught in adverse weather conditions and have stepped up to provide a safe haven.

A tweet shared on Twitter by 'Go Himachal' read, "In Manali if any tourist is stranded, they can come to our hotels, Beas Valley and Beas Residency in Rangari. No money will be charged for staying in the hotel, and all necessary assistance will be provided."

Colonel's Barot Highland Retreat has also offered free accommodation.

"We will be honoured to share our meals and space with anyone in need," the hotel tweeted.

DGC Satwant Atwal also urged all hoteliers in Kullu and Manali to share their guest list so that the tourists could be helped in returning to their homes safely.

The IMD has issued a red alert for Himachal Pradesh and all schools and colleges will remain closed for two days. '

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged people to stay home for the next 24 hours and cooperate with authorities.
