Indian Army Commemorates Nuranang Day Honouring 1962 Indo-Sino War Heroes in Arunachal Pradesh

The Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army commemorated Nuranang Day in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang district on Sunday. This event paid tribute to the sacrifices of the 4 Garhwal Rifles during the Battle of Nuranang on 17 November 1962. The bravery of Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat Maha Vir Chakra and his comrades was honoured for their extraordinary courage during the Sino-Indian War, according to a defence spokesperson.

Nuranang Day Celebrates Indo-Sino War Heroes

The ceremony commenced with a wreath-laying at the Jaswant Garh War Memorial. Attendees included Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat's family, civil officials, ex-servicemen, students, tourists, and over 300 participants. Among them was Jang's Additional Deputy Commissioner Hakraso Kri. They gathered to honour the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India's sovereignty.

Memorial Inauguration and Historical Reenactment

During the event, a new memorial was inaugurated, as stated by Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat. A captivating reenactment of the Battle of Nuranang brought history to life, highlighting the unwavering spirit of Indian soldiers. This portrayal served as a reminder of the courage displayed by those who fought in the battle.
