Millions Pay Respects to Holy Relics of Lord Buddha in Thailand
The holy relics of Lord Buddha and his disciples, brought from India, have attracted over a million devotees in Thailand, showcasing the deep cultural and religious ties between the two nations.
India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, expressed his profound感动 as over a million Thai devotees paid their respects to the holy relics of Lord Buddha during an ongoing exposition in Thailand. The relics, which include those of Lord Buddha and his disciples Arahata Sariputra and Arahata Maudgalayana, were brought from India and have been displayed in a special pavilion in Bangkok since February 22.

A Shared Heritage and Cultural Bridge
Jaishankar took to social media to share his emotions, stating, "Deeply moved to see a million Thai devotees pay respects to the Buddhist Holy Relics which travelled from India. Our shared heritage and culture is a bridge that creates a special bond." He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, the Embassy of India in Thailand, and the International Buddhist Confederation for their efforts in organizing the exposition.
First-Time Showcase of Holy Relics
This marks the first time that the holy relics of Lord Buddha and his disciples have been showcased together, according to the Union Culture Ministry. The Embassy of India in Bangkok shared aerial images of the pavilion surrounded by a vast gathering of devotees, highlighting the significance of the event.
Itinerary of the Exposition
The holy relics will remain on display in Bangkok until March 3 before embarking on a journey to various locations in Thailand. The schedule includes exhibitions at Ho Kum Luang, Royal Rujapruek, Chiang Mai (March 4-8), Wat Maha Wanaram, Ubon Ratchathani (March 9-13), and Wat MahaThat, Aoluek, Krabi (March 14-18). The relics will then be escorted back to India on March 19, concluding the historic and spiritually enriching exposition.
