Holiday over Kalam's death: Kerala Chief Secretary asked to revoke statement

Thiruvananthapuram, July 29: On Wednesday, Kerala Chief Secretary JiJi Thomson posted on his official Facebook page that, "as a mark of respect to Shri @APJAbdulKalam, Sunday will be a working day for all ‪#‎Kerala‬ govt offices and educational institutions."

Few hours after the post by the Chief Secretary announcing Sunday to be a working day for all government offices and educational institutions.

The Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy's office ordered Chief Secretary to revoke the statement.

Later Jiji Thomson posted on Facebook saying that, Please wait for an updated decision on my eralier tweet.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the former president of India passed away in Shillong on Monday. He had said that , Don't Declare Holiday On My Death, Instead Work An Extra Day, If You Love Me.

Paying homage to him many of the offices in Kerala has worked extra hours on Tuesday and some are planning to work on Sunday too. [Kerala pays homage to Kalam by working extra hours]
