Himachal Pradesh: Tension in Paonta Sahib area

Shimla, Sep 14: Tension prevailed in Paonta Sahib area today after some unidentified persons pelted stones at the people gathered to offer namaz on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha at Madrasa Kadria at Mishawaka in Sirmaur district, police said.

Four persons, including a Madrasa student, were injured and two vehicles were damaged in the incident, they said.

Sirmaur Superintendent of Police, Soumya rushed to the Madrasa, where about 2500 people had gathered to offer namaz on the occasion of Eid, and took all the students to safe places.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of IPC and efforts are on identify those involved in the incident, they said.

Police personnel have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident and will be withdrawn only after normalcy is restored, the SP said.
